About the Conference

We are pleased to announce that the first London Postgraduate Conference for the Ancient Near East will be held at The British Museum (London, United Kingdom) on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December 2018.

The conference is open to all interested in knowing more about current research on the Ancient Near East.

The London Postgraduate Conference for the Ancient Near East is an opportunity for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) and early career researchers to showcase their research at any stage of progress. The primary aim of this event is to create a forum of discussion for emerging scholars and to foster exchanges between the diverse disciplines working on the Ancient Near East, including Archaeology, Assyriology, Anthropology, Historiography, Conservation and Museum Studies.

The chronological periods under consideration are the Palaeolithic to the Islamic conquest, and the geographical scope, Anatolia to Afghanistan and the Caucasus to the Arabian Peninsula.

Under the theme Ancient Lives, New Stories, this year’s speakers will present their current work in thematic sessions. Participants are encouraged to reflect on aspects of their research related to topics including but not limited to:

  • Private and public life
